4 Quick Ways to Generate Fresh Content

laptopnotes-300x179 If you’re big on content marketing, sometimes coming up with fresh content can be difficult.

Because the Internet has so much information readily available, it’s hard to write new material that can catch the attention of the audience. Obviously writing content that has never been written is almost impossible, but generating content does not have to be a difficult feat.

If content is something that you’re having a hard time creating, sit down and follow a few helpful tips to get the ball rolling.

  1. Write, write, write. Yes – even if you think it’s terrible. The key to creating content is to write whatever comes to mind. Even if you feel the idea has been done over and over before, if you write it down, it will give you the opportunity to try and take it from a different angle. Writing whatever comes to your mind can not only get it out, for the time being, but it can also help you see it from a different point of view. When you see it written, this will open up space for more and more ideas. All of your ideas matter in some way, shape or form. In fact, if you write several ideas down, they can even be combined into something greater – the possibilities are endless.
  2. Go into detail. Once you’ve written a few ideas down, start forming your content into an article. When it comes to a well-written piece, many of the important characteristics are the details. The more details you have, the more unique and personal your article will be. Providing details and experiences that nobody else has to offer not only gives your piece a fresh look but it is something that is special to you. When you get specific, this can offer the audience a new way to look at it rather than writing the same broad and general topics as other people do.
  3. Get some alone time. If you work in an office or at home while your children play, this may be the wrong environment for brainstorming. Too many distractions, even when you’re focused on your work, can cause your brain to wander. If spending time alone to generate ideas is not an available option, then ask for 25 minutes only. Spending time alone and uninterrupted, even for 25 minutes, can help your brain zoom back and forth through ideas. A little alone time can actually go a long way, so utilize those moments you have to yourself.
  4. Whether you’re an expert in the field or just trying to create some compelling content, do your research. You don’t have to read books and books on the topic to learn information. Researching is simply reading other blogs or articles to get ideas and see what angles have been done already. When you’re having a difficult time generating content ideas, read from some of your role models or favorite bloggers. It is obviously not recommended to plagiarize their work, but you can get your own ideas flowing when you see some of your favorite pieces. Whatever they are doing is working for their blog, so if you get an idea of what works, you may have an easier time getting some ideas out on paper for your own blog.

If you’re still having a hard time generating content ideas for your blog or business, take a break. Walking away from your computer or notepad for even a small snack or a brisk walk can give your brain a few minutes off and provide you with a fresh start.
