Social Media Marketing: Should Your Company Use It?

28 June, 2012 - Blog, Social Media Marketing

Everyone is on it. Everyone is talking about it. But you have no clue what it is. What exactly is social media marketing? How is this relevant to your business?

What is it?

Social media marketing is a kind of marketing tool wherein you promote your business with the use of social media platforms. Social media are online websites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Foursquare. Essentially, social media requires participation of people or account members – more or less, they have millions of users. You may have seen other businesses create awareness and hype for their brands in these social mediums.

Is it successful marketing medium?

Social media marketing enables businesses to connect with current and future customers in a more personal and more informative way. A business shares content (photo, video, article, etc.) that would get their message across. Whether they have an event, a new product, discount coupons, they can disseminate it with the use of these social media platforms. When people like the content the business shares, they also share it with others. And it goes on and on and on and on. So the possibility of great brand awareness and soaring profits is amazing. The more relevant content posted, the more number of times it will be shared. With the millions of users on these different social media, imagine how fantastic it is to have a chunk of that market?

Can it be used by any kind of business?

Another great thing about social media marketing is that it can be utilized by any kind of business. It may be used by salons, restaurants, bookstores, funeral parlor, auto repairshop, hospitals, etc – absolutely anything under the sun! So, you have no excuse not to use social media as a tool for your success.

For example, your own a coffee shop. How can you use social media marketing?

Initially, you should complete your profile with information about your business. What you sell, where you sell these, etc. Then you look for people who are relevant to your business – coffee lovers, offices (they usually finished a lot of coffee and pastries everyday), police stations, event organizers (they can use you for small events, conferences, etc.) and a whole lot more!

Once you have connected with them and got the ball rolling, you should regularly update your social media accounts with photos of your new coffee blends, coupons to present for discounts, videos of satisfied customers’ testimonials, announcement of when you will give out free samples of a new muffin your are trying out, and whatever you want to share! Just make sure that your audience sees that you’re an expert in your field and you’re good and innovative.

You will then see how many clients you will gain through social media marketing. You will also see how much more you can get to be satisfied patrons in the future. Remember this does not only apply to coffee shops. This holds for any kind of business you have.

Do you want to know more how you can take advantage of the powers of social media marketing? Let’s talk now and get started on the road to success!
